kameraflageTM is the latest technique to augment our reality using technology rather than the ages-old pharmaceutical method. With the camera’s eye being more sensitive to certain aspects of the light and colour spectrum it means that hidden meaning can be applied to all forms of promotional materials. For some reason Brad Pitt’s character splicing blip porn into key frames at his job as projectionist in Fight Club comes to mind.

I wake up and decide to put on some music that will throw me into my wide awake state, something that will work like a aural jolt of caffeine. Bio-medical engineer by day Gregg Gillis slips into his alter-ego, Girl Talk, and creates the quintessential mash up album of the year, Night ripper. My next challenge is find myself a new running circuit around the unfamiliar downtown, I pull up the mapmyrun.com site and figure out a route that some much more geographically informed jogger has already explored. A friend asks me to help her find a place to live in the US and with the public facing stigma of searching directly within craigslist (sitting in Starbucks looking at a site that sells both used kitchen appliances and teenage sex services seems to make me feel embarrassed) I call up a google map/craigslist housing site and bookmark it to review on my way to my client meeting. Last year Gilberto Kassab, Mayor of Sao Paulo had grown tired of the visual pollution generated by the 8000 or so advertising hoardings ‘littering’ the cityscape. The Clean City Laws were introduced at the start of 2007 and its biggest impact is the removal of any external branding, city-wide.

Reward offered for whereabouts of lost dog as featured in the window of a Hollywood fortune teller, obviously pets cannot be clients.
We have a current project that has meant a great deal of prediction and consideration to what the future holds. Project Mx, as we will call it for now, demands a solution that works in the present and can adapt to the future. But why is this process so important? Well, when the client operates as the driving force for where technology and interaction will go in the future, it is vital that how their story is told today can factor in the vision and intention that the experience is meant to promote.A week of thought has taken place between the design team whilst we explore and unearth where interaction will go towards next, multitouch, new graphical processing systems, application development platforms, all these aspects of the experience are now as important as aesthetics and narrative.Technology is now an experiential component as important as sight, sound or any other of the senses. The technology platform is now the sixth sense, but not something that communicates with our understanding of now, it is a sense that exists in the future as well as the present.Project Mx will form a series of posts as we identify new challenges (how does one design a user experience for a client who defines user experiences?) and highlight solutions. Revisit this thread to see what else the future has in store for us.
